Wound bed assessment
- Granulating
- Cavity
- Sloughy
Moisture assessment
- Wet wounds
Contra-indications
- Dry wounds
Advantages
Interacts with exudate to create a cohesive gel that creates a moist environment. Excessive exudate is absorbed to prevent maceration of the surrounding skin.
Disadvantages
Can only be used as primary dressing and needs a secondary dressing as cover. Hydrofibre can adhere to the wound bed if used on low exuding wounds and caution is advised.
