Excision of Facial Tumors

Post-operative

Authors: Frederik Gulmark Hansen, med.stud. and Magnus Balslev Avnstorp, MD

Post-Operative Care

  • Removal of sutures at 7- 14 days dependent on anatomical location and skin tension
  • To remain calm until sutures have been removed
  • Avoid hot drinks and food the first few days
  • Lay with head raised the first 3 days post-OP

Post-Operative Follow-Up

In case of un-complicated tumor excisions, the patient should have a follow-up at the dermatologist or general practitioner 6 months post-OP.
In cases of larger excisions, it may be relevant with a follow-up in the outpatient clinic 3 months post-OP.
In case of melanoma, follow-up is very important. See chapter on cuteness melanoma for further details.
