Rotation Flap Case 2 Cheek rotation flap

80 years old male with aggressive squamous cell carcinoma on the right cheek involving the right lower eyelid.


Before and after

Step 1: Excision
Radical excised squamous cell carcinoma including parts of the orbicularis oculi muscle.
- Per-operative freezing histology samples were collected. The first was not radical, the second was without tumorcells.

Step 2: Closure
Reconstruction with a cheek rotation flap in the SMAS-plane (Superficial Musculo Aponeurotic System).
- Closure of the cheek rotation flap avoiding too much downwards drag in lower eyelid.

Step 3: Follow-up
6- months follow-up photo
