A criterion for MWL surgery in the Danish healthcare system is MWL characterized as second (moderate) or third (severe) degree. Regarding abdominoplasty the classifications are as follows1

Characteristics
Low pannus with a skin overhang > 3 cm
Mons ptosis
Distinct skin issues: Moisture, maceration, wounds
Limitations in daily activities
Skin overhang crossing the midaxillary line in the back
