Clinical evaluation of the flap’s viability should be regularly monitored postoperatively. There are many techniques to assess, including evaluation of its temperature, skin color and capillary refill, stab incision in the skin island by punctuating the skin using a needle to evaluate the amount and color of the blood.
In addition, the arterial and venous blood flow can be monitored using a Doppler scanner. 1
